In the summer of 2010 I had the opportunity to be a part of the clean up on Deepwater Horizon in the Gulf of Mexico. It was a really transformational experience for me in so many ways.
I am grateful to have been able to share and reflect on my experience via The WIP in two different articles.
The first, Mercy and Release: Oiled Bird Rehabilitation on the Gulf Coast, took readers through the emotional highs and lows of wildlife relief while I was stationed in Mobile, AL.
The second and most recent, The Great Invisible Explores Human Cost of Deepwater, allowed me to reflect on my experience four years later through the lens of my interview with the director of the new documentary, The Great Invisible, Margaret Brown.
